We came into contact with Jordklok in mid-2021 when they themselves realized that the walls of the hyperlocal warehouse in Bromma were getting closer and closer. The need for a move to larger premises was a fact and thus they also evaluated opportunities for an upgrade in both software (WMS) and possible automation solutions.
After finding a new address, just south of Stockholm, the solution was an open back/bin system with associated roller conveyors and logic via RFID. A rigorous effort to collect master data on all products is the basis for the flow solution.
Picking bins divided into different sized compartments are linked together via a series of volume-adjusted orders from the WMS. After the operator has picked his 1-10 orders, the tray is placed back on the roller conveyor. Via RFID readers, the tray is routed to the most suitable packing station where the tray's data triggers functions such as the printing of waybills. After the operator has packed his shipment, he pushes the package into the hole in the table, which then moves the package towards automatic sorting.
Thanks to the combination of a new WMS, along with our automation, the customer has halved its FTE (Full Time Equivalent) requirements and has significantly moved its upper limit on the number of orders it can handle per day.
