When Covid-19 crippled our society and countries closed their borders, Norwegians could no longer buy the very popular Swedish snus at a reasonable price on the other side of Svinö Strait. This sent e-commerce volumes skyrocketing and Haypp put out a tender for a Norwegian warehouse centrally located in Oslo.
After hearing about the issues and bottlenecks experienced on their Swedish site, e-motions was finally able to present a concept that was both scalable and small enough to be run centrally.
In addition to the new packing machines, that were more or less developed specifically for the client, we were also proud to come up with a solution that maximised the number of picking trays. By stacking and destacking (stacker / destacker), we have been able to present a solution with a 9.6 metre roller conveyor, that traditionally would have required a runway over several hundred metres long. In a total area of less than 200 square meters, there are merely 5 people working at this Norwegian warehouse, sending out thousands of orders every day.
Thanks to a circular flow of trays, a highly efficient picking solution with two integrated packing machines, and automatic sorting, this company is reaching levels that few other actors would have done manually with a quadruple set of FTEs.
